The golfing season has officially kicked-off with the traditional Captain’s drive here at Cawder Golf Club.

New captain, Colin Montgomery and Vice Captain, Allan Mackintosh, were on the first tees of both the Cawder and Keir courses yesterday, ready to take the first drive for the 10am shotgun start of a well-supported event.

The courses were in magnificent shape thanks to Craig Paterson, Course Manager, and the 11 strong greens team.

Captain, Colin Montgomery commented “I am sure that with the courses playing so well along with the recent accolades we have received, that this signifies the start of a superb year of golf for all at Cawder GC.”

Both captains staged a fund-raiser for their chosen charities, St. Margaret’s Hospice and Prostate Cancer UK and were delighted to report over £450 was raised on the day.

In the competition, a four-person team event with teams for gents, ladies and mixed participated.

Winners:

Cawder Gents team with a score of 53, congratulations to Gordon Wilson, Ray Lorimer, Steven McCarter and Bob Laverty.

Keir Gents team of Rich Crozier (also with a hole in one at the 10th, congratulations!), Ian Bennett, Grant Douglas and James McBride with a score of 48.

Ladies team of Liz Mackintosh, Anne-Marie Livingstone, Mel Boyle and Lyn Mather with a score of 54 took top spot.

Mixed team winners comprising Heather McGrattan, Alan Findlay, Shona and Duncan Hamilton collect the prize with a score of 58.
