Welcome to the summer!

The summer is officially here, although we haven’t had a great deal of sunshine so far, nothing new really, but here’s hoping for a good July.  The courses are now in great shape, so well done to Neil and his team who have been working tirelessly, battling all Mother Nature has thrown at them.

With the courses being in such good shape then why not take advantage of the members-guest golf day.  Remember you are entitled to sign on a party of 12 at guest rates once a year, so why not bring your friends to the club, or your work colleagues, or indeed customers and have your own corporate day? Not many clubs offer members such a benefit, so take advantage of it, and why not organise some catering too?  Breakfast rolls to start or a 2 course meal after the round.  If you are interested then please contact house@cawdergolfclub.com to book your golf day.

Huge congratulations to Stuart Mason and his Donald Cameron team for winning the league for an unprecedented 4th time in row! This team just continue to break records and hopefully they can now go on to win the Boundary Bell and Inter-cities for a 4th time in a row as well. Once the Boundary Bell details are confirmed we will share the arrangements and hopefully see some members come along to support their team.

Members Feedback/Forum

We are striving to improve our facilities and service levels and to help us measure our performance we have left “how did we do today?” cards in the bar that basically point to a short online survey, which will allow us to collect data on the course and bar for that day.  Please, be mindful, this is also a medium to leave positive feedback, when deserved of course.

Next week we also plan to launch a full membership survey.  We have been working with Scottish Golf on a few matters and we are going to utilise their survey tool, which will also allow us to compare the results within our geographic area, as well as Scotland as a whole, and hopefully provide us with some useful insights. So please spend some time completing the survey and help us identify the areas that are important to you.

We are aiming to collect the results throughout July and plan to share the initial findings at the next Members Forum.  Dates TBC.  Watch this space.

Greens Update

As previously mentioned we have a “Captain’s Bunker” on each course and those players unlucky enough to find them may contribute to the Junior Development Fund by paying a “fine” of £1 in the jar provided at the Bar. Thank you to everyone who enters into the spirit of it. I am £2 down already! And whilst we are talking about bunkers, please take the opportunity to rake our bunkers well, click here to see our demonstration video, as there is nothing worse than finding your ball embedded in someone else’s footprint.

Junior Update

The Friday nights are proving a great success, so much so that the kids have themselves named the night: Little Big Shots, and they now have their own branded little big shots hats. The last event saw nearly 30 children turn up. There was a 4 hole Texas Scramble (3 juniors and an adult making up each team), which saw 2’s galore and Lewis Pate won the nearest the pin at the 2nd.  Carol and her team put on a BBQ to top off  a great night. For those that are interested; non-members can come along up to 3 times before committing to joining – so bring along some friends and join in this great new initiative.

Match and Handicap

Kenny Graham is recovering well, and we hope to welcome him back soon. In the meantime the rescheduled championship qualifiers are now complete and we now have the provisional draw for the match play competitions, which will start on Sunday July the 30th.  It is a provisional as some players are to confirm their availability, so if you have not already done so can you please email on secretary@cawdergolfclub.com  to confirm.

And finally, it’s the Open Mixed Greensomes at the end of the month – 29th of July.  A fun 18 hole strokeplay completion, £15 per pair. Please encourage friends to come along and help support the event.
